Well Arsenal didn't mess about. 2-1 down from the first leg and banged in 5 to make it 6-2 to go through to the last 8. :niceone:

Man Utd up next.

Nice one Stu, hope gunners get something out of this season for trying to play football the right way. As a scouse Red can't wait for the season to end ,can't get excited about the Europa on Thursday.

Can understand Dave. Been a long time since Liverpool have been so poor.

Would have been nice to see 4 Prem teams get through the later stages of the CL. :fedup:

Time to use the French system, which restricts clubs to spending only a percentage of their annual revenue

Back with the Champions League. Whatever Arsenal can do.... Man Utd won 4-0 to make it a 7-2 win. Very emphatic too. 30 goals for Rooney so far. Think he might just get picked for England. :grin:

Big shock tonight was Real Madrid going out to Lyon. What was the odds on that?

Teams through so far are;

Arsenal
Bayern Munich
Man Utd
Lyon

Next half of the round to get to the last 8 is on the 16th/17th March with Chelsea v Inter Milan next Tuesday.

Must admit Stu, even tho being in a house full of man u suporters, I just enjoy watching football no matter who is playing.

As for tonight, I think Ronaldinho is the best 'pound for pound' football player I have 'seen' in my lifetime, and yet right through his career he can't turn it on away from home. Unbelievable at home but u/s away from home.
What a disappointment!

Hmm. Ronaldinho, never held up to his hype to be honest. Could of but time is passing him by and I honestly think Rooney has caught up with Renaldo & Messi as the top 3.

Lyon did very well but not sure they will progress. Guess everybody needs a bit of luck though and that starts with the draw. Friday I think? Need to check that.

Well Chelski dumped tonight. Mourinho does seem able to do the business. Think he will eventually take over as the main man once Sir AF gives up. Be interesting who they draw next. Man Utd?

Last 6 of 8 is now;

Arsenal
Bayern Munich
Man Utd
Lyon
Inter Milan
CSKA Moscow

Other 2 come from;

Barcelona v VfB Stuttgart
Bordeaux v Olympiakos

Arsenal & Man Utd will be praying to avoid the long, frozen trip to Moscow I bet.

And picking up people he drove over!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8572727.stm

Well Barca walked into the last 8. They were a bit scarey to be honest. Must be hot favourites to win again.

Barcelona 4-0 Stuttgart (agg 5-1)
Bordeaux 2-1 Olympiakos (agg 3-1)

Last 8 then.

Arsenal
Bayern Munich
Man Utd
Lyon
Inter Milan
CSKA Moscow
Barcelona
Bordeaux

Draw is 11am Friday.

If i was a betting man I would bet on Man U beating Barca as long as they dont meet in the final. I think they would need to play the first leg at the nue camp also.
I think they can mark Messi out of the game and thus even the odds over 2 legs. I know Barca arn't a one man team but without Messi they are most definately beatable..... and not too great at the back either.

Whats the chance of Lyon getting to the final? Worth a bet maybe?
